Eakin Care Program

About Us

ECP is a TNDHS-licensed, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by a parent board of directors. We are proud to serve Eakin Elementary families in our own dedicated space.

Since 1977, Eakin Care Program, Inc. (ECP) has been serving Eakin School children in grades K-5th for before and after school hours, teacher in-service days, and most school holidays. During the summer months, we have a summer camp program that is open to the community at large.

Our program is guided by the philosophy that school aged childcare exists to meet the needs of working parents and their children and should be planned in response to those needs. It is our belief that most of the child’s developmental needs are met by the home and then the school. Therefore, this program should complement the school’s curriculum and be more like the home environment. We provide a place to relax, experience new activities, enjoy recreational physical movement, and learn about group social interaction. We encourage children to be self-directed while choosing and participating in activities. We strive to be supportive of each family and their values, but most importantly, we work to create an environment where children may develop a positive self-concept.
